Tour Highlights

Departing Broome, your journey heads north across vast King Sound, home to Australia’s largest tides, before flying over Walcott Inlet, the rarely seen Harding Range and the Prince Regent River to the remote Mitchell Plateau airstrip. After a short refreshment stop, enjoy a scenic 4WD journey through ancient Livistona palm forests to Mertens Campground, where you’ll board a helicopter with our tour partner HeliSpirit for an exhilarating flight to Mitchell Falls.

Take in breathtaking aerial views of Mitchell Falls and Mertens Gorge before landing to enjoy time at the falls, including a packed lunch, swimming, relaxation and unforgettable photo opportunities. A return scenic helicopter flight brings you back to the campground, followed by the drive to Mitchell Plateau airstrip for refreshments before your return flight.

The homeward journey showcases the Kimberley’s dramatic coastline, tracking past Kuri Bay and Montgomery Reef before overflying the Horizontal Falls, famously described by Sir David Attenborough as the “8th Natural Wonder of the World.” Continue across the spectacular Buccaneer Archipelago and the northern tip of the Dampier Peninsula at Cape Leveque, before a coastal flight south over Beagle Bay, James Price Point, Willie Creek Pearl Farm and Broome’s world-famous Cable Beach as the sun sets over the Indian Ocean.

Please note: Should Mitchell Falls cease to flow, the remainder of the Mitchell Falls tour season may be suspended. The Horizontal Falls and Montgomery Reef are a natural, tide-dependent phenomenon with variable flow, and water levels cannot be guaranteed due to structured tour scheduling.
